I watch with an intent gaze

O! to get few hopeful rays,

lest seeing my window closed

fate chooses to close for me all doors.

Often have I prayed in past

often have I tried to seek:

who knows what path it is,

that takes me to my distant dreams.

ਕਦੇ ਤੱਕਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਬਸ ਨੀਝ ਲਾ ਕੇ

ਕੋਈ ਲੀਕ ਚਾਨਣ ਦੀ ਦਿਸ ਜਾਵੇ,

ਕਿਤੇ ਬੰਦ ਮੇਰੀ ਉਹ ਖਿੜਕੀ ਦੇਖ

ਮੇਰੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ'ਚ ਬੰਦ ਬੂਹੇ ਨਾ ਲਿਖ ਜਾਵੇ;

ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਮੈਂ ਦੁਆ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ

ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਵੇਖ ਲਈ,

ਖ਼ਬਰੇ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਰਾਹ ਹੋਵੇ

ਜੋ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਤੱਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਛ ਜਾਵੇ |

The Unanswered...

A desparate search for the answers,

when found out finally:

God changes the question papers.

When I posed a question

He didn’t give an answer proper:

entangled in the web of the unanswered

I found wherein lies

the meaning of life;

in the unwanted twists and turns

sometimes left, sometimes right.

ਸਾਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਹੱਲ ਲੱਭਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਸਦੇ

ਰੱਬ ਬਦਲ ਉਹ ਸਵਾਲ ਦਿੰਦੈ,

ਪੁੱਛਣਾ ਚਾਹਿਆ ਸਵਾਲ ਜਦ ਰੱਬ ਕੋਲੋਂ

ਜਵਾਬ ਨਾ ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਦਿੰਦੈ |

ਇਹਨਾਂ ਉਲਝੇ ਸਵਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਸ ਕੇ

ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਅਸਾਂ ਮਾਇਨੇ ਲੱਭੇ;

ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਮੋੜ ਸਨ ਕੁਝ ਅਨਚਾਹੇ

ਕਦੇ ਖੱਬੇ, ਕਦੇ ਸੱਜੇ |

Money and Relationships

Materialism overshadows the sentiments
no importance given to human beings,
relationships are put up for sale
not a fig care for feelings.
What should we do with this world...
Where tears not allowed to fall
for the unfulfilled desires?
Where money is doing rounds as god?


ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਵਾਸਾ ਇੱਥੇ
ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦੀ ਨਾ ਇੱਥੇ ਕਦਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ,
ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ਇੱਥੇ ਮੁਲ ਵਿਕਦੇ ਨੇ
ਅਹਿਸਾਸ ਵਟਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਨਾ ਸਬਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ;
ਕੀ ਕਰੀਏ ਇਸ ਬੇਰਹਿਮ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦਾ
ਜਿੱਥੇ ਅਧੂਰੀਆਂ ਸੱਧਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾ ਹੰਝੂ ਕਿਰਦਾ
ਏਥੇ ਪੈਸਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰੱਬ ਫਿਰਦਾ |

Had I that line...!!!

Had there been hope of alms
would have begged without a second thought.
Had life been the cost
no fear paying the same;
would have asked God to write my fate
had I that line on my palms...


ਜੇ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਆਸ ਖ਼ੈਰਾਤ ਦੀ
ਤਾਂ ਝੋਲੀ ਫ਼ੈਲਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਨਾ ਦੇਰ ਲਾਉਂਦੇ,
ਜਾਨ ਜੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਕੀਮਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ
ਅਦਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਨਾ ਘਬਰਾਹਟ ਹੁੰਦੀ,
ਰੱਬ ਨੂੰ ਕਹਿ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਲਿਖਵਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ
ਜੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਹੱਥ'ਚ ਉਹ ਲਕੀਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ |

Fate

Fate is what can't be undone
what we want is always not done,
God made all the days:
so, our perspective doesn't change
this can never happen.

ਮੁਕੱਦਰ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕੋਈ ਮਿਟਾ ਨੀ ਸਕਦਾ
ਸਦਾ ਜੋ ਚਾਹੋ ਉਹ ਹੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ,
ਪਰ ਸਭ ਦਿਨ ਨੇ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਬਣਾਏ
ਸਾਡੀ ਬਦਲੇ ਨਾ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਇਹ ਹੋ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ |

The Unknown Faces...

My face won't be remembered
my words will be forgotten,
nobody knows the tomorrow
say the wise - it's God
who knows the secrets unknown.

ਕੌਣ ਰੱਖੇਗਾ ਯਾਦ ਚਿਹਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ
ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ ਮੇਰੇ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਣੇ
ਕੱਲ ਦਾ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤਾ,
ਕਹਿ ਗਏ ਸਿਆਣੇ
ਗੁੱਝੀਆਂ ਰਮਜ਼ਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਰੱਬ ਹੀ ਜਾਣੇ|

ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰੋ ਜੇ ਕਰ ਸਕੋ
ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਵਰਤਾਉਣ ਲਈ
ਸਗੋਂ ਏਕਤਾ ਤੇ ਮੇਲਜੋਲ ਲਈ;
ਕਰੋ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਜੇ ਕਰ ਸਕੋ
ਨਾ ਹੰਝੂ ਪੂੰਝਣ ਲਈ ਕਰੋ
ਮੁਸਕੁਰਾਹਟਾਂ ਵੰਡਣ ਲਈ ਕਰੋ,
ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਜਗਮਗਾਉਣ ਲਈ
ਜੇ ਕਰ ਸਕੋ

Pray if you can
not for peace alone,
but for unity and harmony;
pray, pray if you can
not for wiping off tears
but to lend a smile,
brighten up a world
if you can.
